  How We Work
  Who We Are

Overview:
As Co-Active Coaches, we listen to your needs and design a dynamic plan with each individual client. We have lots of tools in our tool kit, but not every tool is useful for every client.

Some clients love having deadlines, goals, and strong accountability. Other clients don’t want that at all; they want to work on their perspectives and increase their personal power. Still other clients want to gain a stronger sense of freedom, confidence, and joy. In other words, there are as many ways to work with a coach as there are clients!

One-on-One Coaching:
Also known as personal coaching or life coaching. If you are in transition, feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or perhaps are just wondering how good life could be, this might be for you.

We start with a half-hour complimentary sample session, to make sure that this is the right fit. If it feels like another coach or professional might serve you better, we will happily refer you to them. We have no interest in trying to “talk you into” working with us.

Once we do decide to work together, we will set up a Discovery Session. It’s a two-hour session (two one-hour sessions when done on the phone), where we establish where you are now and where you want to go, then we consciously design how we are going to work together.

From there we will meet regularly to celebrate your successes, overcome your doubts and fears, and look at what your next steps are. Most clients like to meet on the phone 2-3 times per month for 30 to 45 minute sessions. Some people prefer in-person appointments. Rates vary depending on the coaching time, and that will all be designed in advance. No surprises.

Relationship or Team Coaching:
Whether you are a business partnership, a married couple, or a corporate team, this might be for you.

What makes this different than individual coaching, besides the fact that there is more than one of you, is that we do something a little unusual. We listen for and work with the ‘voice of the third entity.’ What’s that? Think of a relationship in your life, perhaps with your brother or a friend. When we coach a relationship, we are focusing on what your relationship wants and needs, not so much on what the individuals in the relationship want. The good news is that the individuals in the system are usually much more satisfied when the relationship itself has a voice.

We are course leaders for the Center for Right Relationship (at the Coaches Training Institute) which draws on research from John Gottman, and the work of Arnold Mindell, among others.

Executive Coaching:
Lots of people that call themselves executive coaches are actually business consultants or therapists that are now working inside corporations. If you need information, advice, or have a challenge in functioning, one of those directions would be great to go in.

We use Co-Active Coaching (see One-on-One Coaching) in our work with CEOs and other corporate honchos. Frequently, a CEO or VP does not really need more information or advice. What they often want is a sounding board; someone who opens up their perspectives and give them new ways to see a situation. That’s what we do.
